SCAPES: Works by Bethani Blake
About the Exhibit
Landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, playscapes, escapes…scapes; Bethani Blake explores layering digital images of environments then switches to analog to paint the final faceted iteration. It’s coexistence, codeswitching, camouflaging, and co-opting. Screen captures from popular video games, anime cartoons, and architectural imagery blend, overlap, and clash to establish the visceral experience of navigating different realities as a Black artist. Curated by Joe Bun Keo.
